Where our data comes from
DexDB brings together the game’s own battle data, Smogon’s stats from Pokémon Showdown and community databases. Each number on the site comes from one of them, and the coloured labels say which.
In-game ladder Pokémon Champions ranked battles
Daily usage ranks from Pokémon Champions’ ranked Doubles and Singles, with the items, abilities, moves, teammates, Stat Points and Stat Alignments players pick most, from Pokémon Champions Battle Data. It’s the game itself, so it says what’s used right now in Champions. Last updated Oct 28.
Shown on: the rankings, the Pokédex’s “Most used” strip and “Ladder #” badges, each Pokémon’s Competitive card, and the “On the ladder” lists on move, item and ability pages.
Smogon · Showdown Smogon’s usage stats
Monthly stats from Smogon for battles on Pokémon Showdown, a free fan-made battle simulator: the share of teams with each Pokémon, their sets, spreads, teammates and counters, at each rating cutoff. Showdown has Champions formats (Champions VGC and BSS) as well as Scarlet & Violet’s, but it isn’t the game’s own ladder, and it counts Megas separately. The latest month is Sep 2026.
Shown on: Smogon stats, the “on Showdown” shares on move, item and ability pages, speed tiers, the stat calculator’s popular builds, and Smogon tiers when you switch them on.
Pokémon data
PokéAPI: species, forms, base stats, learnsets by game, Pokédex entries, evolution chains, locations, sprites and official art. Pokémon Showdown’s data: what Pokémon Champions allows and what it changed, items, ability and move descriptions, move details, Smogon tiers and which form evolves into which. Biology notes are written by us, with Wikipedia credited where it’s used.
Pokédex voice
Each Pokémon’s name and newest Pokédex entry are read by Kokoro-82M by hexgrad (Apache-2.0), recorded ahead of time. Name pronunciations follow the official respellings compiled by Serebii.net. Older entries and names in other languages use your device’s own voice, where it has one for that language.
Art and symbols
Sprites and official art from PokéAPI’s sprite collection; type symbols from pokemon-type-icons by James Watkins (MIT). Pokémon and all related names and images are © Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures Inc. and The Pokémon Company; DexDB is an unofficial fan site.
