Biology

Yveltal is a creature of destruction known in Kalosian mythology as "the one who takes". It is capable of absorbing the life energy of other living beings, and maintains the balance between life and death alongside Xerneas. At the end of its life span, it absorbs the life force of everything within roughly 50m and enters a restorative cocoon phase for 1,000 years.

Design & origin

Yveltal's design is inspired by the Hræsvelgr of Norse mythology, a giant eagle able to make the wind blow by flapping its wings.
