Biology

A duck-like Pokémon, Psyduck is constantly stunned by its headache, and usually just stands vacantly, trying to calm itself. When the headache worsens, normally inactive brain cells activate, causing it to accidentally unleash strong psychic powers. It then forgets that it used those powers. Psyduck evolves into Golduck.

Design & origin

The design started as pixel art sprites by the development team, with the finalized design and artwork done by Ken Sugimori. Originally called "Koduck" in Japanese, it was renamed "Psyduck", a combination of the words "psychic" and "duck", when the games were translated for western audiences.
