Biology

Ho-Oh is a Legendary Pokémon worshipped as a deity. Following a tower burning down, Ho-Oh resurrected three Pokémon who died in the fire, with the three becoming Entei, Raikou, and Suicune. People who are pure of heart are stated to be blessed with eternal happiness if they see it.

Design & origin

Ho-Oh's design is likely inspired by the Fenghuang (firebird) of Chinese myth, as well as the immortal phoenix of Greek mythology. Likewise, its name likely derives from the Fenghuang's Japanese name, "hō-ō".
