Biology

Standing eight inches tall, Klefki resembles a key ring with four keys dangling off it, having two eyes and a keyhole-shaped mouth in the middle. A pink appendage hangs beneath the center of its body. It is known for collecting keys.

Design & origin

Klefki was designed by graphic designer Mana Ibe, whose initial idea derived from the history of Kalos, the fictional region Pokémon X and Y is set in. From there, Ibe was inspired to add "story elements to a key design", basing the design off of old mansions and secret keys. It may also be at least partially inspired by the Japanese yōkai Tsukumogami, household objects that gain souls.
