Biology
Known as the Aura Pokémon, Lucario can sense and manipulate aura (波導, hadō), a special kind of life energy. It can sense aura miles away, which lets it know where something is and how it's feeling, so no foes are able to hide from it. It can use this aura as a weapon to pulverize rocks too.
It understands human speech. Lucario is a canid-like Pokémon. Its chest and the exterior of its wrists each feature a single, white spike.

It also has a large snout and ears, red irises with vertical slit pupils, an "hourglass"-shaped figure with thighs significantly thicker than the rest of its body, iron rings incorporated into its shoulders and waist, and a raccoon's "mask" that loosely resembles a khakkhara with four small dreadlock-like appendages on the back of its head that are used to sense aura.
The coloration of its fur is predominantly blue and black, although its torso features buff-colored fur slightly shaggier than the rest of its body. When it opens its mouth wide enough, sharp fangs can be seen. Kalosian mythology states that Lucario was the first Pokémon to have achieved Mega Evolution within the region.
Design & origin
Created by Game Freak and finalized by Ken Sugimori, Lucario has been speculated by fans to be partly based on Anubis, the jackal-headed god of embalming from Egyptian mythology. Director Junichi Masuda considered Lucario's name one of the most difficult to create, due to an effort to make it appeal to all audiences.
The film Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, released during the games' development, affected how the team approached Lucario's game counterpart.
Forms
Mega Lucario
Black aura energy seeps from its body. Its hands, feet and the tips of two appendages on the back of its head have turned red and the tail has become an extension of its buff-colored body fur.
Mega Lucario Z
Mega Lucario Z is Lucario's second Mega Evolved form. Unlike Mega Lucario, it uses its aura to create a defensive barrier around itself that increases its durability and flexibility.

A most gallant-looking creature. It emits energy waves and controls them with precision, using them to sense even faraway beings. I have given the name ”aura” to this power.
Legends: ArceusIt can tell what people are thinking. Only Trainers who have justice in their hearts can earn this Pokémon’s trust.
ShieldIt controls waves known as auras, which are powerful enough to pulverize huge rocks. It uses these waves to take down its prey.
SwordLucario reads its opponent’s feelings with its aura waves. It finds out things it would rather not know, so it gets stressed out easily.

Ultra SunThey can detect the species of a living being— and its emotions—from over half a mile away. They control auras and hunt their prey in packs.
MoonNot only does it perceive auras, but it has also gained the power to control them. It employs them in battle.
SunBy reading the auras of all things, it can tell how others are feeling from over half a mile away.
