Biology

Scizor is a bipedal, praying mantis-like Pokémon. It is the evolution of Scyther. Scizor has a body composed of steel, which causes it to be unfazed by most attacks that come its way.

It is primarily red in color, with two pairs of grey retractable wings, which it uses to regulate its body temperature. At the end of its arms are two large, round, metallic pincers, capable of cutting anything.

Design & origin

Alongside the praying mantis, Scizor's design may also take inspiration from flying red ants and the wasp mantidfly. Scizor's Japanese name is a reference to the Japanese verb for "to cut" (hasamu), whereas its English name derives from scissors.

HoldsScizorite

Mega Scizor's pincers have now taken on a diabolical form, able to rip anything to shreds. However, it cannot sustain this form and battle for a while, or else the weight of its pincers will be too much to bear and the heat from Mega Evolution will cause its body to start melting.
